48 goals

That's how many the Caps have yielded so far this year...

...it's also how many Carolina has yielded.

The difference between 11-4-3 and 6-10-1?

28 goals...Carolina's 68 scored and Washington's 40 scored. 40...in 17 games. 2.35-per-game. Seeing as how Alex Ovechkin averages 0.65 goals-per-game so far, that leaves 17 skaters to divy up the remaining 1.7 goals a game.

That's 0.1 goals per game, per skater not named "Ovechkin."

Yeesh...

We definitely need some more offensive production from guys other than OV. Hopefully Clark will help in this department when he (please!) returns later this week.

If he scored 30 goals last year in a season of 82 games, that would mean an extra goal for the caps every couple of games or so. That alone could help push the Caps back toward the win column in what would otherwise be one-goal games.
